Dulux Colour of the Year 2019 – Spiced Honey

Dulux’s colour of the year; Spiced Honey, is certainly contrasting to Pantone’s bright and bold Coral colour of the year, for 2019. Spiced Honey is a muted, warm amber tone; a versatile colour that creates a cosy and calming atmosphere, that can be incorporated to nearly any colour palette or design scheme. This colour was inspired by reflections of the chaos and unpredictable events across the world in 2018 and was selected to enable us to create safe havens and areas of comfort to retreat to, in our homes. Spiced Honey will not simply be a design trend that we paint our walls with, but will hopefully be a state of mind that we can apply to our lives and homes, by incorporating it into our design schemes! Dulux and designers hope that this colour will create different states of mind, when applied to individual palettes; it is believed that with the correct colours alongside, Spiced Honey will be stimulating, energising but also nourishing and calming (dependent on the room’s setting or the space’s purpose and design scheme).

Rich caramel tones shine through this colour, making it perfect alongside raw, natural accessories (such as linen and hessian) and when teamed with bright white tones, this scheme will make for a bright, refreshing but calming, contemporary interior. Dulux have proposed 4 stunning palettes that enable Spiced Honey to make its’ mark in any space:

‘WARM NEUTRALS’ (State of Mind – ‘Think’): A palette that combines a few already classic and popular colours but brings them together to create an innovative and fresh colour combination – deep blues, rich burgundy and pastel pink shades. We think this palette would be great incorporated into a design scheme for a Study or Office area; the ideal place to ‘think’.

‘SOFT PASTELS’ (State of Mind – ‘Dream’): A palette of muted and soft pastel colours; think of powdery pinks or baby sky blue tones. We think this palette will work wonderfully in a Bedroom space; the perfect serene place to ‘dream’.

‘RICH & WARM’ (State of Mind – ‘Love’): A palette of deep forest greens, rich teals and warm terracotta tones. This palette will work beautifully in a Bedroom or Living Space, creating a cosy, intimate & comforting environment.

‘BOLD BRIGHTS’ (State of Mind – ‘Act’): A bold and adventurous palette, combined of vivid reds, pale pinks, greens and blues with crisp white and grey tones. We think this palette will be fab for a Playroom, Dining or Living Room, to create a fun, motivating and playful atmosphere; the perfect productive area ‘to ‘act’.

Polished natural woods, textured soft furnishings, textiled rugs, pale woods and botanical prints are all ways to enhance Spiced Honey, with simple accessory & furniture pieces. We’ve put together a simple concept board for inspirations and product ideas to incorporate into a design scheme, based on 2019’s Dulux Colour of the Year, Spiced Honey.

The concept that we have put together is based on the ‘Soft Pastels’ scheme; combining Spiced Honey with muted and pastel pink shades, textured wallcoverings (Tessera 1071.02 by VESCOM*), a tan leather sofa, textiled shaggy aztec rug, white & wooden furniture/lighting, textured soft furnishings (pink pom pom cushions), matte muted accessories (ombre ceramic pink round vase) & sheer floaty, bright white voile curtain fabric (Rosa Pearl by KAI fabrics*).

*These items are available to purchase directly from our store, as we are stockists of VESCOM & KAI. Please contact us with any enquiries, via our website!

Top 5 Interior Design trends, for 2019!

2019 is bringing a wide variety of Interior Design trends, that we know you’ll love incorporating into your own home! Here are our 5 favourite trends for this year….

  1. ‘BLUE PLANET’ – Interior design is taking a dip into the big deep blue this year, with a ‘Blue Planet’ theme becoming a definite trend for the year. Upgrade your furniture to magical mermaid scalloped chairs and art-deco curved plush velvet beds. Make waves in your Bathroom, with fish/mermaid scale tiles and create a stunning ‘curvy’ feature wall. We cannot lie, we’ve definitely fallen hook, line & sinker for this unique new trend.
  2. ‘NIGHT SKY’ – We can see rich midnight blue and dark tones, paired with constellations and galactic patterns appearing in the not-so-distant future. No need to search the sky for inspiration, this decadent trend can be applied to any space, by incorporating elegant astronomy and zodiac patterned wallcoverings, star-strewn crockery, galactic furniture surfaces and cosmic tiles. Whether it is subtle starry additions or celestial statements, cosmic trends have been shooting across both interiors and fashion!
  3. ‘CONCRETE BATHROOMS’ – Concrete is definitely the new marble for Bathroom interiors this year. Aesthetically providing a minimal, modern and industrial feel but practically providing a strong and versatile, functional material for a tough, waterproof and durable surface. Make it your own by printing on concrete or by polishing it, to achieve a sleek and smooth finish. This trend is easily personalised by adding and swapping either bright or natural and raw styled accessories!
  4. ‘BRASS METAL FIXTURES’ – Warm brass tones achieve a warm and timeless but industrial look. Brass metal fixings and features can be introduced in a number of simple, yet ultra stylish ways. Whether it be a new tap fixture for your Bathroom or Kitchen, simply a new decorative bowl or plant pot or your pendant and floor lighting; this trend is classic and classy, achievable at any level, in any space. We personally love the contrasting combination of soft brass metal tones, paired with dark, bold navy wall-coverings & we are sure this scheme will be popping up on many occasions throughout this year!
  5. ‘MOTTLED MIRROR GLASS’ – Mottled glass mirrors (also known as antiqued or foxed glass/mirrors) are predicted to be featuring in all different aspects of interior design this year. From mirrors, to wall panelling, to wardrobe doors, to kitchen & bathroom splashbacks; mottled mirror glass is a staple trend for 2019. The mysterious textured appearance, creates depth, cosiness and intrigues the eye, with patchy faded reflections. Despite the slightly ‘old-aged’ look, the timeless material of mottled mirror still creates a sophisticated and classy atmosphere, from the chic silvered background. Using this reflective material for large surfaces creatively produces a maximised perception of space, whilst preserving an intimate and warm atmosphere of a room!

Furniture Packages – A Great Buy-to-Let Solution

Furniture Packages – A Great Buy-to-Let Solution

The Buy-to-Let market can provide highly successful investments, but can also be highly stressful for landlords, especially when this is not a full-time profession: here at Unidrape we can make the process easier and more efficient. Our Furniture Packages provide the perfect, efficient solution to furnish and style a property; to not only make life easier for investors, but to maximise a property’s rental potential. With styling packages ranging from modern and contemporary to timeless and traditional, we can ensure that whatever your type of property, it is set apart from the competition on the current market.

From entry level (buy-to-let or student accommodation) to high end (bespoke and luxurious) packages; we have created a set of varied furniture collections, to simplify the design & furnishing process. With specially selected items from our tried and tested suppliers we provide convenient, affordable and high-quality pre-designed furniture packages, tailored to suit you and your property’s requirements.  Packages can include everything from simple staple furniture pieces, through to window dressings for which we have developed a product range particularly suitable for the rental market; through to linens, kitchenware, soft furnishings and home accessories. We have a range of universal, neutral and sophisticated but simplistic colour palettes across all our furniture packages with colourful accessory accent pieces also available to include in any package.

Suited to the fast-paced U.K rental market, we can provide a fast turnaround of just 2 weeks*, with one efficient, pre-arranged delivery straight to the door, full assembly and installation of all items & rubbish clearance; making properties ready for rental in one visit. We are experienced with liasing with letting agents and building developers, taking the stress of organising access and lead times away from the investor.

Our furniture packages also consider the differing sizes and shapes of properties in the U.K and are aimed to maximise space and potential. For example, the Studio apartments shown in the images have been fully furnished with pieces that allow integration of storage and ease of movement, throughout this smaller space.  Every property is space planned prior to furniture selection to ensure the best balance of functionality and form.

The Dining Table & Chair set from this package are designed and selected with minimalism in mind; this furniture piece not only enables a ‘barrier’ creating two distinct spaces, but its clever design takes up minimal room. The Sofa is a contemporary and simplistic design, finished in a soft neutral fabric; its Taupe colour palette ties in perfectly with the Window Dressings also included within this package. As this was a studio apartment, we provided modern and minimal, sleek blackout Roller blinds in a hardwearing fabric. This package also included a Bed Frame and mattress; once again the bed is of a simple but contemporary shape in a modern neutral tone that will work with all colour schemes and accessories that may be added in by the investor’s client in the future. Oak and Gloss White finish storage furniture pieces (wardrobes and chest of drawers) allow maximum organisation, whilst complimenting a neutral colour (wall & floors) scheme, tying in with the final furniture piece; a light oak Scandinavian style TV unit.

This concise entry-level furniture package was well suited to the target demographic for this rental area; we ascertained from the client’s letting agents that studio apartments in the area were in great demand by mature students and general commuters; and used this information to tailor the package accordingly.
