Interior Design Trends For Spring 2020

We like to keep our finger on the pulse of all things design related here at Unidrape, and with some great new fabric collections now available in-store, we have researched what’s hot for the new season:

High Contrast Rooms

We love this dramatic yet elegant look. Using a light neutral background with a strong, dark accent colour such as Navy or Charcoal, this style can be used in both modern and period properties with great success. Full-length curtains in a striking, dark geometric Art Deco print or texture can add grandeur to either a living room or a bedroom.

Furniture works well as an eclectic blend of period pieces with contrasting upholstery or cushions, and alongside more modern pieces. The fabrics used in this room are from the new Iliv Astoria collection, where a balance of small-scale pattern repeats are teamed with larger geometric designs. Lighting is kept simple, with accent lamps placed to create a variety of lighting effects.

Floral Prints

From wallpaper to curtain fabrics and bedding, the new florals range from bright tropicals to muted country gardens. Some of our favourite florals this season are the new Botanist collection, with delicately embroidered fabrics teamed with prints and soft checks. This style works perfectly with wooden Venetian blinds or plantation shutters to create a restful sanctuary with a colour palette inspired by nature.

Velvet

Luxurious to both the eye and touch, we love to use velvet on soft furnishings in rich colours! From a sofa to a footstool, or a roman blind to wall to wall curtains, we have a vast selection of velvets in different weights and finishes to be able to incorporate in any design scheme. We love mixing fabric textures, and feel as, in this picture, it only makes this beautiful velvet sofa more inviting!

Statement Lighting

Lighting is always an important consideration in any room design. We always consider the amount and type of light source required on any of our projects, but with some stunning new light fittings available, we think that designing a room with the lighting as the focal point can pay dividends. With architectural shapes and a wide variety of materials, statement lighting can inspire an entire room scheme.

Adding Accent Colours to a Neutral Scheme

Bright colours aren’t for everyone, and we still love neutral rooms! So much can be added with beautiful textures, and even small areas of colour can really lift a grey or beige palette. Something as simple as new cushions can make a huge change in the aesthetics of a room; and are a great way of intruding accent colours without redecorating.

Best Conservatory Blinds

Choosing blinds to dress your conservatory can be very different from choosing for other rooms in your house. In an area with so much glass, your priorities are likely to include reducing heat gain in summer, keeping the heat in during the winter, and of course privacy. Whether you have a traditional conservatory, a glass-walled extension, or an orangery, we can help advise on the best product to suit you. Here at Unidrape, we understand the importance of style and functionality, and with our knowledge and product range are able to offer you the best solutions without sacrificing either your style, vision or practicality.

Blinds for a Traditional uPVC Conservatory

For a traditional conservatory in uPVC, it is worth considering a no-drill system that is fitted to each windowpane, such as Perfect Fit or Intu. These frame systems enable a tight fit to the glass and make it easier to open windows and doors. Perfect Fit International frames are available for shaped roof windows; and are the best solution for reducing heat gain in the summer months. Pleated systems, in particular, can provide privacy, reduction of solar glare and insulating properties. Our Hive and Duette honeycomb fabrics provide an additional layer of insulation and come in a variety of colour and texture options.

Motorised Roller Blinds

If you have a large wall of glass such as bi-fold or sliding doors, motorised roller blinds can often be the perfect solution. Available with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries if no power source is available, roller blinds can be controlled on a remote handset, or through a home hub from your mobile phone or tablet. With a home hub, you can also programme your blinds on a 7-day timer, and even control your blinds remotely when you are away from your home. With a wide range of fabrics to choose from, motorised roller blinds can suit most property styles.

Roman Blinds

For a softer, warmer look Roman blinds can make a conservatory feel cosy in winter, and give a sophisticated and stylish finish. Using a thermal lining, roman blinds can improve heat insulation and block out any draughts, making the conservatory more usable throughout the year. Roman blinds can be made using the majority of our vast soft furnishing fabric ranges, in a variety of styles, colours and finishes.

Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds are available in a selection of material finishes; from real wood to faux wood and aluminium. Venetian blinds are fantastic at controlling light and privacy. Fabric ladder tapes can be added to both faux and real wood Venetian blinds to give a softer finish and add an accent colour.

Whatever the style of your conservatory, Unidrape are always on hand to advise you. We offer a free of charge, no-obligation survey and design service where our experienced designers can advise you and show you fabrics. So, if you are looking for a specific blind or are still unsure what to go for, Unidrape have you covered. Call us today on 01707 376088 or visit our contact page for more details.
